Angelique Kidjo, nominated for four Grammies, blends the West African traditions of her childhood in Benin with elements of American R&B, funk, jazz, European and Latin American influences. In her music she offers the perspective that the world is much smaller than we think, and the subtle lines of interconnection that span the globe unite its people. Her rhythmic Afro-funk fusion has spread to the four corners of the globe by collaborating regularly with a diverse group of international artists such as Carlos Santana, Gilberto Gil and Dave Matthews. Kidjo's fun-loving personality, on-stage charisma and unique voice are capturing much attention on the world music scene.
