Volkswagen has released " Get Happy ," its 2013 Super Bowl commercial. It stars a guy named Dave who, because of his love for his new VW Beetle, shares his "newfound sunny disposition" with the folks at work.

Brace yourself for another tidal wave of Super Bowl commercials. Volkswagen has released its spot for this year's big game. Set to air during the second quarter, the Get Happy spot follows one jubilant office worker as he makes his way through the day, spreading joy wherever he goes. The source of his happiness? A Volkswagen Beetle, of course. Now, if you're wondering why a gaggle of white guys are running around on your screen with Jamaican accents, it will help to know the spot is part of a larger Get Happy campaign featuring Jimmy Cliff.

The first ad in the series featured the artist singing his rendition of "C'Mon, Get Happy," complete with a little help from some notorious unhappy YouTube stars. You can take a look at the new ad before it airs below, along with the complete press release for a little more background.

While we like this Deutsch LA-created Volkswagen Super Bowl teaser ad which gathers together a cavalcade YouTube freak outs for a come-to-Jesus-like moment with reggae musician Jimmy Cliff, we can't help but conjure visions of Coke's 1971 classic "I'd like to Buy the World A Coke" commercial .

Don't be shocked if some savvy advertiser soon rolls out a teaser for a Super Bowl ad teaser. The mania for Super Bowl teasers -- basically, ads for ads -- began last year, with Volkswagen posting a teaser online aimed at driving folks to social media to get hints about VW's Super Bowl game ad.

"A good teaser can become viral," says Steven Posavac, marketing professor at Vanderbilt University. That's what teasers are for: creating viral chatter before the Big Game.

The VW teaser's viral success has many game advertisers trying them this year, including Toyota, Taco Bell, Mercedes-Benz, Coke, Cars.com, Kraft Foods, Gildan USA and Procter & Gamble.

But the most anticipated has been VW's, which [rolled out Thursday]. The two-minute teaser features a "greatest hits" of rants and moments of high emotion on YouTube. Like the Green Bay Packers fan (2 million views) wailing uncontrollably after her team loses. And the obese guy (1.5 million views) who destroys his Xbox.

VW shows the moments, then brings the ranters together on a hillside where they rejoice to upbeat music from reggae legend Jimmy Cliff. He re-creates the theme song from TV's The Partridge Family: Come On, Get Happy. The ad ends with the tagline: Get In. Get Happy.

"The social side of the Super Bowl is massive," explains Justin Osborne, general manager of advertising and marketing communications at VW. "Every consumer all of a sudden gets to put on an ad executive's hat."

VW took the trend to the next level last year with its "Bark Side" video -- dogs barking the Star Wars theme song. It got about 15 million views.

Dubbed Sunny Side , this web-spot is VW's warmup of sorts for what promises to be another blockbuster year in the world of Super Bowl commercials . Without giving away the game, the euphonious commercial sees Cliff opening his arms and his heart to some YouTube 'celebrities' that might see courser treatment from the likes of Tosh.0 , for instance. We can't help but be reminded of Coca-Cola's legendary 1971 Hilltop spot with the "I'd like to buy the world a Coke" lyric, too.
