Corea travels between the jazz and fusion worlds with great ease, since he became part of Miles Davis' renowned electric group from 1968-'70, and then formed Return to Forever, with Stan Getz which began as a Latin-flavored group, then shifted toward electric fusion and fame. Since the late '70s, Corea has alternated in the electric and acoustic realms with his Elektric and Akoustic Bands, recording in contexts ranging from solo and duo projects and has won eight Grammys out of 25 nominations. This DVD is sheer proof of this magnificence. Francisco Pérez Gutiérrez, Frank Grillo o Machito como se le conoce en el mundo musical latino es sin ninguna duda uno de los pilares fundamentales de lo que todos conocemos como Salsa, su aporte a la música latina es enorme y en compañía de otro gran músico Cubano como lo fue Mario Bauza, se convirtieron en los padres del Cubop, Jazz Latino o Jazz Afro-Cubano. Bauza era cuñado de Machito, se caso con su hermana Estela en 1.936 y además un excelente músico que tocaba clarinete, oboe, trompeta y saxofón; fue el ideólogo de la fusión entre el Jazz y los ritmos Cubanos. Machito también contó por mas de veinte años con la participación de su hermana Graciela Pérez como una de las vocalistas de su Banda. Durante casi 50 años Frank Grillo cantó, grabó, compuso, dirigió, tocó sus maracas y dejó un legado musical extraordinario para todos los aficionados a los ritmos Afro-Cubanos y Latinos. Entre los ritmos que hacen parte de su repertorio tenemos: Mambo, Guaracha, Conga, Afro y Bolero. Muchas casas disqueras hacen parte de su repertorio como son: Verve, Mercury, Seeco, Tico, RCA, Cotique, Tímeless, Tumbao, Palladium, Roulette, Pablo y Crescendo. El legado musical de Machito se compone de más de 50 producciones musicales y actualmente en el mercado existen mas de 70 trabajos en los diferentes formatos que nos ofrecen las empresas de discos, lógicamente muchas son recopilaciones, variados o compilaciones. Machito es uno de los estandartes que fomentaron las raíces de nuestra cultura musical en los Estados Unidos y el mundo entero difundiendo básicamente el híbrido de la música de Jazz con los ritmos Cubanos de los años cuarenta y cincuenta del siglo XX. Del numeroso repertorio de Machito mencionamos algunos de sus éxitos: Chango ta veni, Blen blen blen, no tiene telaraña, Fantasía Cubana, El As de la Rumba, Mambo inn, Mango mangue, Mambo infierno, Sentimental mambo, Si si no no, Soy salsero, Tibiri tabara, Babarabatiri, Tanga, Tremendo cumban, Tin tin deo, Carambola y Yo soy la rumba. Entre los calificativos que se le dan a Machito en el ámbito musical tenemos: Icono de la música latina, pilar fundamental del jazz latino, la leyenda del latin jazz, el padre del cubop (El Cu-Bop se refiere a la fusión que hizo Chano Pozo de la música cubana con el jazz).
