Lucky Dube "Ding Ding Licky Licky Bong"

Lucky Dube (born: Ermelo Dube) (pronounced: Doo bay) is one of South Africa's best selling artists and one of its most outspoken performers.. Although he initially sang in the traditional Zulu mbaqanga style, his move to reggae in 1984 was sparked by his quest to express his anger against the oppression of apartheid. While The Village Voice observed, "The spirit of Lucky Dube's music and dance epitomizes the spirit of Black liberation", "Niceup Magazine" said, "(Dube's) lyrics have brought an original voice to reggae by chronicling the political and spiritual struggles of his South African breathren". Dube's musical talents were obvious from an early age.

Maxwell Vidima - Cape Town South Africa

Maxwell Vidima, based in Cape Town South Africa has completed a masters degree in musicology, written a book about African guitar styles, had a hit album in Zimbabwe, runs an impressive international touring schedule, and has released a brand new album Sagiya, his first for Universal. Sagiya, which is Zulu for `to dance', is a ten track afro-jazz spectacle in the tradition of Jimmy Dludlu that bridges the many worlds Vidima has been a part of. There are traces of bossa nova on Aphiri (composed by Vidima and a Zambian friend of Vidima's father), mbaqanga on the title track Sagiya (remember Mahlatini's hit song of the same name?), gospel on Umwe Uye Uye and scorching jazz guitar on Miss Mavuso. Afro Soul LIVE from South Africa

ABOUT AFRO SOUL Jacques Canstable started playing the guitar at the age of 4, but switched to drums at age 11, joining Afro-Soul in early 2005. He, like the other band members has much experience in the music industry, having being involved in many projects and performing with the likes of Hotep Galeta, Gito Baloi, Robbie Jenson, Jimmy Dludlu, Rene Mclean, Alvin and Errol Dyers and Judith Sephuma. With a Preparatory Certificate in Music, from the University of Cape Town's College of Music, he went onto pursue a Bachelors degree in Music, but due to financial constraints he had to stop studying. That did not stop him from doing what he loved most, with this project in tow Jacques has a bright musical future ahead of him. This band would not be complete without the 4 vocalists: Nontobeko Pasiya, Nolitha Dlwathi, Nokhanyo Ntshona and Ayanda Nqumashe. As it is said, "Birds of a feather... " These four ladies bring unbelievable talent and energy to the band with successful musical careers of their own and accomplishments that include university musical and opera studies, performances in various stage productions, champions in Soprano Solo Arias, participation in the Shell Road to Fame Talent search and performances in various promotions and corporate events. What more can be said about a band that together make world class spiritual and socially uplifting music, except that it needs to be recorded! With 15 original songs but no financial backing, a recording seemed an impossible dream. Luck was at hand though, it was late 2005 that they met Mohamed Fall of Vibrations Recording Studio, who was very impressed with the bands musical ability and enthusiasm and agreed to fund and record an album for them. The musical style of the group is a beautiful combination of African indigenous Mbaqanga, Afro-Jazz fusion and Soul and this is where the name Afro- Soul originates. The members of Afro-Soul are finally living out their dream, in their own words "They are here to help people realize that there is hope after all - YOU JUST HAVE TO DREAM BIG". Look out for their sizzling album................ Afro Soul are a Blue Pie Productions and Vibration Studio artist. They are available at all leading digital retailers on the planet.
