The Indavitsus, pictured here, are a Kenyan family of seven, who earn around €15 per month and have to borrow two and a half times their income to buy food.
Food prices have soared globally over the past few months. More and more Irish people have to think about how and where to fill their shopping trolleys. But while a rise in food prices in Ireland is a real worry for us, for families like the Indavitsus, it’s a matter of life and death. Any food is a luxury.
Today, World Food Day, Trocaire is asking the public to stop and think about the world's poorest people.
The Indavitsus represent the 862 million people who live with hunger on a daily basis.
Pictured here is are Susan Indavitsu (35) , Sarah Iminza (12) , Doricus Singili (9)
Rodah Siamyeta (4) , Driscah Dngachi (2) and Shadrack Sagara, (7).
