Parque de Bombas

All decked out in Christmas lights. It had been a firefighter's building but is now the tourist information center in Ponce.

Xmas Lights at Plaza Las Delicias

Plaza Las Delicias is Ponce's main square. It's definitely textbook Spanish colonial plaza, complete with a church and the city hall, although a Burger King and a Church's (the fast food kind) one the east side of the square has somewhat diminished its charm.

View from my hotel room balcony

Looking out on the streets of Ponce from my room in Hotel Belgica.

Tren Urbano

Alternately impressive and frustrating, San Juan's first and only mass transit system opened in 2005. There's only one line and doesn't go anywhere near Old San Juan, which sucks, but at least it's a start.

Sunset at the beach

Dusk descends upon Ocean Park.

Sightseeing Day 2 Done!

"No hay nadie como tú, mi amor"

La Nueva Era store

"Clothes for men and boys". Reminds me of a "tiangge" in the Philippines...

Old San Juan at Dusk

Night may steal the colors of this street, but its vibrancy lives on.

Río Piedras

Paseo de Diego has been semi-closed to vehicular traffic, turning the street into an outdoor pedestrian mall.

University of Puerto Rico Clock Tower

The university was established at the turn of the last century and is the oldest and largest university in the island.

Street Performers (sort of)

If that stupid SUV wasn't in the way, I would've had a clear shot of these two singers on the street (they were really good)! The grimy, graffiti-ridden walls and the no-frills street vendors give this scene a delightfully (or not) third-world air.

Coffee Break

Taking a break from the humid streets with a café con hielo (iced coffee) at a bookstore/café in Río Piedras, with my journal and trusty guidebook out (Lonely Planet, natch!).

SM PR POE Hunt Prizes

We were asked to make something representing a nationality that meant something to us, my theme is Puerto Rico.

I have made two gifts representing my Puerto Rican heritage that I hope you will enjoy. Both come with a notecard explaining a little bit more about those objects and why they mean something to me and Puerto Rico. Just click the objects to get the notecard. I made all of the poses included general so that you can remove them if you don't want the prop and you still have 6 free poses :)

I have also included a more general holiday set that most people can use as is.

In total you get 9 poses as well as the props should you choose to keep them :)

I wish you all a very happy holiday season no matter what you celebrate.

Peace and enjoy :)

Iconic Puerto Rico

The bay and the "garita" -- turreted guard towers that have become an icon of Puerto Rico.
