A small sample of the rather extreme driving conditions on the Caribbean island of Dominica. The native people seem to be natural-born rallycross drivers. The driving is fast and insane since most of the roads are one and a half car widths, meaning you have to share the curves, sometimes no more than 3-4 inches apart. Some of the many other obstacles, besides the vehicles, are people hanging off of the vehicles, people walking on the blind curves, free-roaming livestock, giant pot-holes, sheer cliffs, 2 foot rain gutters along the side of the road, and spontaneous down pours of rain - since it's a rain forest island. Oh, and did I mention you have to do all this while driving on the opposite side of the road and on the opposite side of the car, when compared to the United States? Yup.

I was walking to campus from my apartment when I was struck by the bright idea of filming the cows standing in my path with my cell phone. Hilarity ensues.

In Dominica there is no ranch. The whole island is the ranch. Here are some cows that are outside my apartment.

I still don't know what this bug is called. It was found in the rainforest of Dominica.

From what I've been told, these falls are only known to the local people who live in the area. The walk to them is not tough except for a couple of spots where you have to climb potentially slippery rock areas, and the falls are an incredible reward. Expect a 45 minute hike. The main falls are tiered, with each having its own pool, and they are breathtaking. This video does not represent all of the beauty since it was shot from the bottom of them. It is possible to climb up from pool to pool, but it is a bit tricky and slippery. A guide is needed for safety. Hopefully if things go as planned, ropes will be tied up in the future to help anyone climb up. For further information, feel free to send me a message through youtube. Forget a lot of the other tourist spots until you have been here. Harigat Falls is a true paradise, isolated in the northern part of Dominica, waiting to be experienced by those who appreciate nature and nice cool pools. By the way, the temperature of the water there is very nice, cool yet not too cold, but perfect. Disclaimer: I'm not completely sure this is the correct name for the falls at this point since they are so unknown, but it is the name someone told me. I'm just trying to help promote this amazing spot that everyone should experience.

Really nice. Many will probably stupidly say it's a fake, but try watching it carefully, you'll see it's not fake, it's just incredibly nice.
