Tsotso Out With Maiden Album
In a dynamic music industry like ours, things keep on changing, new stars keep surfacing and new talents will always be discovered.
Apart from the few creative artistes who are known and accepted however, most budding musicians tend to lose focus after reigning for a couple of years as they repeat the same beats and style of performance over and over.
It is also a fact that the hip-life music industry in Ghana has always seen a lot of artistes, some able to finish the journey, others pausing somewhere along the line due to lack of creativity.
This year, a young, talented artiste has been discovered in the name of Eric Opare Oking, aka Tsotso, who has promised to run things in a different dimension with the help of Wild Wild records who have finally released his maiden album titled, “Eduro”.

How Tic Tac Saved Daasebre - After Appearing In Court!
“You are so loud, you do not need a Microphone” were the words from Judge Mark McDowell after Tic Tac, the Ghanaian Hip life Superstar, had sworn an oath at the Isle worth Crown Court to give testimony about the life of beleaguered Ghanaian Highlife maestro, Daasebre Gyamena.
Tic Tac, who traveled to the UK on-board a British Airways airline together with Fred Nuamah, one of Daasebre Gyamena’s managers, gave a testimony to buttress what the prosecution referred to as “discrepancies” in Daasebre’s evidence to the court during his trial.
Tic Tac, in a very relaxed mood, told the court that “Daasebre is a good and popular Ghanaian musician whose songs talks about love and how to make it in life the positive way.
He revealed to the court that his relationship with Daasebre dates back to the late 90’s when he collaborated with the maestro to do a song entitled “KKBK”.

The Rise To Fame Of Kofi B
Kofi Boakyie Yeadom is like many of his compatriots in the musical world - he has dreams of becoming rich. But, unlike many of his peers Kofi B, as he's also known, has an interesting reason for wanting to amass all those cedis: he wants to be a lawyer.
"I think it is the most respected and humble job one can do," the up-and-coming hip-life artist says about his lifelong ambition to be a lawyer. And as for that burgeoning musical career, Kofi B says that"s all by chance.
This week Yeadom sat down with The Saturday Statesman to talk about what he has achieved so far.
Dressed casually in a long sleeved shirt and trousers, he related his average beginnings. "I got into music accidentally," he said. "I come from a poor family. At the age of five years my father died. After he passed, because there was no money to do anything I had to come out of school, that is Agogo Secondary in the Ashanti Region, to help to support the family. I then went into trading where I was selling shoes."

Time For Tic Tac To Explode Internationally
A staff birthday party, even for one's Editor-In-Chief, is the last place one expects to meet a record-setting African musician, but that"s exactly what happened while grooving to the beats at the Gabby@40 birthday celebration.
Into the party walked Tic-Tac the first African artist to be featured on MTV’s Making the Video.
Looking cool and relaxed in a collared shirt, jeans, and over-sized sunglasses, Tic-Tac pulled up a chair to soak up the atmosphere, and to talk about how he’s come to be arguably the most recognisable Ghanaian hip-life artist, gracing TVs across Africa, but Tic-Tac says that’s just the beginning.
"I want to use myself as an icon. When people look at me, it will lift their self-esteem. My own creativity has taken me to a place where I don’t know but I think I am a hip-life artist and it is being good to me," he said.

I Won't Retire From Music...Owahene
Owoahene Nana Acheampong, the lover boy is the choice when we talk of highlife sounds in the country. Beginning music at his early age with Daddy Lumba, a friend he met in a German neighborhood as Lumba Brothers, they recorded their maiden album in 1988 with “yereye aka akwantuo mu” as the title.
Their next and last duo album was “Obi ato me so boo” and they went solo after something cropped up between them. In the past 16 years, Nana has produced 16 albums with the first 6 recorded in Germany and the rest in his own Owoahene studio in Suame, a suburb of Kumasi.
In 1996, his album “nanka ebeye den na aye wo ya” sold over 1.3million copies, a level no Ghanaian musician has ever reached and declares that that particular album is still selling 3million and over.
He has six honors from his performance and due to how he want to maintain that level, Nana has in recent times adopt a way to please all highlife and hiplife fans and thus blends his style with high and hip life.

The Emergency of Shaolin
A new chapter in the book of among the Ghanaian community in Toronto is being written with the emergence of young and up coming shining star by the name of Emmanuel Boachie (a.k.a. SHAOLIN).
I have been privileged to witness the journey of such a talented star through personal relations and his tremendous performances at local events.
Across the Atlantic Ocean, all the way to London, word reached me of Shaolin’s interest in hip life music.
I was taken aback by such news since I never imagined Shaolin as a hip life material. Time and tide they say waits for no man, so I eagerly anticipated my return to Canada to witness what he has to offer. I was dumbfounded with what I heard and saw upon arrival.

Prince, Joe Perform With Obrafuor
TV3 Mentor 2 Stars, Prince and Joe joined Hip-life ‘High Priest’, Obrafuor for their first live show outside the studios of TV3.
This was when they embarked on a tour dubbed ‘tiGO experience tour’ with the cellular network tiGO last weekend, touring Tarkwa, Takoradi and Cape Coast, pulling massive crowd in each town.
While their presentation was good wherever they visited, they did not receive good response from the crowd in Tarkwa, owing to the fact that TV3’s network does not reach that town, so they knew nothing about the Mentor programme.
However, the mentor stars were not deterred; they gave good account of themselves.

Najo Of FBS Fame To Explode In Liberia
FBS and Obuor were the only Ghanaians among other international artistes to perform at the peace concert organized by the UN in Liberia prior to the country's recent landmark elections which brought Africa's first female president in the person of Ellen Johnson Sirleaf into power last year.
Following the success of the Liberia show, organizers of the event have this year invited Najo of FBS fame for an Easter episode and according to him he couldn't resist the offer as he sees it as "my own small way of contributing to maintaining the peace in that country through my music because I promised my Liberian fans I was going to return if the peace was kept, by far I think it has been".
Relishing the success of his previous performance in Liberia, Najo reveals 'it was the biggest crowd I had ever performed for and sharing the stage with African celebrities like Congo's ace musician Kofi Olumide and actors Sharon Stone and Ramzy Noah respectively of Nigeria was exciting...for me, sitting at the same table at the press conference for the concert with immediate past UN Secretary General, Kofi Annan was indeed humbling' he continued.
Najo who's onetime member of sensational hip-life group FBS has also revealed that contrary to popular speculations, there's no enmity whatsoever between him and his two other colleagues making up the rap group and that they all get along very well.

Hip-life ‘High Priest’ Obrafuor sent massive crowds into ecstasy last weekend in Tarkwa, Takoradi and Cape Coast at a series of concerts being staged around the country with ‘tiGO’, the cellular network provider.
