A young boy falls into a hole and finds himself in the land of ghosts: kidnapped, transformed, sold, initiated by thief spirits, he crosses a bush populated with monsters before returning to the world of the living. Tutuola’s second novel, published by Faber in 1954, gave its title to the experimental album by Brian Eno and David Byrne and inspired a creation at the Avignon Festival 1995 with Isaach de Bankolé.
