For the African Revolution: Political Writings

For the African Revolution, published in 1964 by Maspero, is a posthumous collection of political essays by Frantz Fanon written mainly between 1956 and 1961 during his involvement with the Algerian FLN. The text was edited from Fanon’s archives and documents provided by his family.

The work presents Fanon’s political thought on anticolonial movements in Africa and the Third World. It notably includes analyses of the diplomacy of newly independent states, internal divisions within national liberation movements, and the necessity for a political consciousness specific to oppressed peoples.

This collection constitutes an essential extension of The Wretched of the Earth and illuminates the political dimension of Fanon’s anticolonial activism, particularly his engagement with the FLN and his critique of postcolonial elites.
