Main basse sur le Cameroun (1972)

Main basse sur le Cameroun : autopsie d’une décolonisation is a rigorously documented polemic essay on the mechanisms of neocolonial dependence. Published in reaction to the “Yaoundé trial” targeting members of the UPC (Union des populations du Cameroun), this book accuses France of controlling former colonies through Françafrique.

Foccart’s services demanded its ban; the Ahmadou Ahidjo regime applauded it. Mongo Beti and his publisher François Maspéro sued the State: victory in 1976. The second edition appeared in 1977, revised and augmented with a preface by the author.
