Description
Poetic collection by Aimé Césaire published in 1950 by Éditions Fragrance in Paris, with engravings by Pablo Picasso. Corps Perdu marks an evolution in Césaire’s poetry: the author explores the wounds of the racialized body and the fractures of the colonized consciousness. The title refers to a dispossessed body, torn from its land and its history. The work constitutes a link between the first generation of poems (Cahier, Armes miraculeuses) and the denser, more fragmented language of the Ferrements.
