Bouyon (Dominique)
Bouyon is the national musical style of Dominica (Lesser Antilles), born in the 1990s. A fusion of zouk, soca, reggae dancehall, and Caribbean African influences, bouyon is characterized by fast beats, electronic synthesizers and high dance energy.
The group Winty and B is the founder of bouyon, followed by Jean-Philippe and the wave of new Dominican artists. The style has conquered all of the Caribbean and is danced at festivals Junkanoo and other cultural events.
