Kuduro (Angola)
Kuduro is an Angolan musical style and dance that emerged in the 1980s-90s. The term means “hard leg” in Portuguese and Angolan, referring to the strong rhythm of the dances. Kuduro combines elements of local music with electronic sounds, fast beats, and a strong bass presence.
The pioneer is M’Bilia (no, she’s Congolese); Kuduro Angola was popularized by Bunbury and later by Angolan diaspora artists in Portugal. Kuduro is a cornerstone of the modern Angolan music scene and has influenced European scenes.
