Musique rituelle haïtienne de carnaval

Rara (Haiti)

Rara is a ritual Haitian music practiced during Lent and especially at Easter carnival. It is processional music played on the streets, featuring bamboo trumpets (vaksin), drums, maracas, and songs in Creole. Rara is a form of community communication that blends Vodou and Catholic traditions.

Notable figures include Bogassa, Manno Charlemagne, and the numerous rara groups that animate Haitian streets.
