Spouge (Ghana)
The spouge is a Ghanaian dance music style that emerged in the 1960s. The term comes from the onomatopoeic word “spouge” (water gushing forth). It is a rhythmic music played with percussion and brass instruments.
The pioneers of spouge include Norman (the creator) and the Ghanaian groups from the first period of post-independence.
