God’s World (دنيا الله, Dunyā Allāh), published in 1962 under the French title Le Monde de Dieu, is a collection of fourteen realist, metaphysical, or absurd short stories. Mahfouz explores the struggles of a transforming Egypt, between the national and the individual.
