El gran zoo, satirical poems by Nicolás Guillén published in Spanish in 1967 and translated into French by René Dépestre. A fantastic bestiary where ideas, emotions, phenomena, and anthropomorphized animals form a virulent social critique. This collection won the Griffin Poetry Prize 2024 in its new bilingual edition (University of Chicago Press, trans. Aaron Coleman).
