FELABRATION is a special concert event created to celebrate one of Africa's most prolific musical icons, Fela Anikulapo Kuti.

Known around the globe as the inventor of Afrobeat (a mix of African-American Funk and Jazz with traditional Yoruba and Highlife music) and for his political charged lyrics, Fela's legacy still looms larger than life even 11 years after his death. His counter-culture lifestyle and defiant stance against corruption and oppression in Africa has earned him a cherished spot in the hearts of millions. Born in Abeokuta, Nigeria in 1938, the self proclaimed Black President and chief priest would have turned 70 in October of this year.

To honour him, the Nigerian-German musician Adé Bantu has assembled musicians, DJ's and dancers who have been shaped by Fela's music and politics.

The show will feature guitarist OGHENE KOLOGBO a members Fela's legendary Afrika 70 band, Nigerian singer and soul sensation DON ABI , DJ ERIC SOUL of the London-based Afrogroov Collective, Francis Gaye aka FRENCHMAN(presenter & DJ at WDR Funkhaus Europa) and FIREDANCE, a group of Afrika Shrine styled dancers. The host of this Afrobeat madness will be Adé Bantu, who has been active for 20 years as a musical ambassador and activist . He is the founder of Brothers Keepers and the Kora Award winning Afropean collective Bantu. All performers will be backed by the Berlin based AFROBEAT ACADEMY BAND. After years of touring Europe and Africa with Bantu(including shows in Ghana, Tanzania, Uganda and Nigeria ),they can now lay claim to be one of the world's heaviest Afrobeat Ensembles.
