Mazurka (Antilles)
The mazurka is a dance and music of Polish origin imported to the French Antilles by colonists in the 18th–19th centuries. Adapted to African and Creole rhythms, the mazurka became an Antillean style with 3/4 rhythms, couple dances, and wind instruments.
The mazurka is a founding element of the biguine and traditional Guadeloupean music.
