Ziglibithy (Togo)
The ziglibithy is a traditional musical style and dance from Togo, originating from the Kabyé peoples of the central region. The term comes from the Kabyé language, meaning “to move” or “to dance.” It is a festive music played with drums (ganbus), gongs, and traditional singing.
The ziglibithy dance is characterized by synchronized movements and quick steps, practiced during community ceremonies. It is one of the most representative styles of Togolese culture and Togo has adopted it as one of its national cultural symbols.
