Coladeira (Coladeira)
The coladeira is a danceable Cape Verdean musical style originating from the island of Santiago and other southern islands. More rhythmic than morna, coladeira is characterized by catchy guitar and cavaquinho melodies, and accompanies a fast rotating couple dance.
Notable figures include Bana, Mayra Andrade and groups like Os Tubarões. Coladeira, along with morna and funaná, forms the three fundamental styles of Cape Verdean traditional music.
