Salegy (Madagascar)
The salegy is a musical style and dance from Madagascar, originating from the northwest coast (Sambirano). It is a very fast dance music, played on the drum (marovany) and guitar. Salegy is one of the most popular dances in Madagascar.
Notable artists include Mavety, Jaojoby (the “king of salegy”), and the numerous salegy groups that animate the Malagasy music scene.
