After a week of terrible weather, this was our last day and it turned out to be the best day we have ever had. We had 5 adult whales, one "dancing" female trying to attract the males, her escort who stuck to her like glue, and three challengers trying to get a look in. Normally this would result in fighting and rowdy behaviour, but this group were peaceful and gentle, fascinated by us and swimming round us in a gentle ballet which lasted for hours. We didn't even return to the main boat for lunch, and our guide said it is in his top 3 encounters in 20 years of doing this. After a disappointing week it was a magical treat, and we returned to a world full of virus so this will make a particularly lasting memory.
