Dorze (Tribal) Woman Fuelwood Carrier, Mt Entoto, Ethiopia

Approximately 15,000 women in Addis Ababa make their living from collecting fuelwood from the eucalyptus grove atop Entoto Mountain. Every day they travel around 30km to collect and carry branches, twigs and leaves. They sell the fuelwood door-to-door, on street corners or in the many open markets in the city making about $3 a day.




Dorze (ዶርዜ) people lodge

Dorze (ዶርዜ) people are a small tribe (approx 29,000 individuals) from Southern Ethiopia. Their rural town is a tourist destination but in Addis Ababa they are a persecuted minority. The fine weaving of the eucalyptus fence and tribal lodge are samples of the work they are famous for.
