Waterbucks

Female Waterbucks in Burgers Safari, a part of Burgers Zoo in Arnhem, the Netherlands.
The Waterbuck (Kobus ellipsiprymnus) is an antelope found in Western, Central Africa, East Africa and Southern Africa. Waterbuck are found in scrub and savanna areas near water where they eat grass. Waterbuck stand 100 to 136 cm at the shoulder and weigh from 160 to 270 kg. Their coats are reddish brown in colour and become progressively darker with age; they have a white 'bib' under their throats and a white ring on their rumps surrounding their tails.
The long spiral structured horns, found only in males, sweep back and up.

Mask, late 19th century

According to artic.edu/aic: "Mukenga masks like this one are worn at funerals of influential, titled men in the northern part of the Kuba kingdom. The mask's form and materials combine symbols associated with status and leadership. Its surface is comprised of raffia cloth upon which glass beads, cowrie shells, raffia fibers, and animal fur are attached. The carefully arranged cowrie shells, once prized as currency, signal wealth and status. The beard-like ruff of the large and dangerous colobus monkey refers to powers of the forest. A prominent trunk projecting upward and over the front of the mask represents the elephant, the supreme symbol of leadership."

KP had just completed a raid of Gorilla Island where he 'misappropriated' this item of their breakfast, and then hid in the tree to eat his ill-gotten gains.

Stock Photogragh of Full Moon Rise Over Lake Malawi in Nkata Bay Central Africa

It was the most beautiful moon rise I have ever captured and the rich purple colours were amiazing even to the naked eye. I knew how the colours would turn out especially using Fuji RVP.
