Etosha Pan 4465

The view from the truck, as we bounced across the roads in Northern Namiba’s Etosha National Park, was just breathtaking! In the language of the Ovambo people, Etosha means ‘great white place’; the Etosha Pan, which covers approximately 4,800 square kilometres, is the largest salt pan in Africa.

Oryx 4469

Northern Namiba’s Etosha National Park

The large oryx are a beautiful animal – and a popular menu item in Namibia where “vegetarian” is a foreign concept.

Sleeping Beauty

Another picture of a very rare, desert-adapted lion in north-west Namibia. These wonderful creatures - fewer than 200 in number - have adapted to the harsh and arid landscape in this part of the world. They can survive without water for days at a time by surviving on the moisture from the blood of their prey.
