23 January 2018. Monrovia: West Point is a township (the administrative equivalent of a city ward) of the Liberian capital city of Monrovia. Home to approximately 75,000 people, West Point is one of Monrovia's most densely populated slums.
Environmental degradation has gradually caused part of the peninsula to erode into the ocean. Endemic problems include overpopulation and diseases such as tuberculosis.

1 February 2018. Monrovia: Offices of the former UN base in Tubmanburg, Liberia, destination of a long range patrol, the last one operated by the Chinese Formed Police Unit (FPU) deployed at UN Mission in Liberia (UNMIL) before withdrawing in few weeks.
The Chinese FPU has 140 police officers, including 4 women, and after five years of service, it is due to withdraw in the coming weeks as part of the UNMIL's mandate termination, scheduled on March 30, 2018.

Liberia's population is estimated at 4.85 million. This compares to the 2008 census population of 3.47 million. The Greater Monrovia area is home to about 25% of Liberia's population.

25 January 2018. Monrovia: Elijah Yoursee, a farmer in Paynesville, Liberia, waters a land of rice in a farm supported by UNMIL.
More than one hundred farmers in Paynesville, a suburb east of Monrovia, Liberia, are currently working in a farm project supported by the United Missions in Liberia (UNMIL).Trough a Quick Impact Project run by the department of the Peace Consolidation Service and implemented by the local company Fabrar Liberia Incorporated, the farmers have been provided with tools and capacity building to grow rice, okra and watercress.

26 January 2018. Monrovia: A woman prepares butter to bake banana and coconut bread in a community bakery in her neighbourhood, as part of a Quick Impact Project (QIP) supported by UNMIL in Coast Guard, a suburb of Monrovia, Liberia.
Since December, 30 women have been given training and tools to start a cooperative that means to continue on its own. The department of Conduct and Discipline in UNMIL sponsors this project that allows the Liberian women to be employed and self-reliant.

26 January 2018. Monrovia: Two young women rest after collecting garbage in their neighbourhood as part of a Quick Impact Project (QIP) supported by UNMIL in New Kru Town, a suburb of Monrovia, Liberia.
One hundred young men and women in ten different areas of Monrovia have been given training and tools to manage the waste of their neirbourghoods, basically plastic, cans and glass. After collecting and separating material, the youth sell the waste to local recycling companies. The Environmental section of the Director of Mission Support in UNMIL sponsors this project that allows the Liberian youth to be employed and self-reliant.
